Hell Ton John, aka HTJ, presents his new exhibition at the gallery Winkler. From November 12 to 24, discover the colorful paintings and masks and surfboards carved, locally and modern style so singular.
HTJ has a style all his own, a recognizable paw at first glance. You certainly had the opportunity to pass his works declined on many urban media. craft designer, the 31 year old artist has participated in several group exhibitions and also offers its services to decorate murals.
His talented designer did it quickly known to the general public, including at the international festival Ono'u, for which he was to turn round and invited competitor. It is part of this new wave of local artists (like Ennio Neagle, TAHEA Drollet KNKY ...), close to the street art, pop culture, while claiming to belong to the Polynesian culture. That's solo he returns to the Winkler Gallery, for the sixth time from 12 to 24 November.
SURF BOARDS OF CARVED
John, whose real first name, has multiple hats and aspires to freedom in every project it undertakes. Tiki, patterns from the Pacific, of course graffiti, surfing ... his influences come from all backgrounds and all forms are for bright achievements, even solar, contemporary touch. For this new exhibition, besides the features paintings of the artist, the viewer will find masks and carved boards, work started a few years ago and has extensive offering a new series on "welcome on board series ".
HTJ explains his procedure: "I use broken boards or found on the beach, and recycles I realized then masks if the boards are reduced in size and sometimes full board from a foam (foam block. , ed.) Then I carved, ice and resin, but we must be vigilant because it is very fragile. " It will also present prints and stickers in limited series, as well as other goodies surprises. A colorful creativity that is worth seeing!
